 FOR WOMEN

Strength training is an important part of a healthy exercise routine for both men and women.

A safe and effective strength-training program will improve muscular tone, posture, joint stability, muscular strength and endurance as well as improve overall body composition. Strength training will also help decrease the risk of osteoporosis, which is a major health concern, especially for women as they age.

Many women believe that lifting weights will cause them to bulk up and thus do not include it in their exercise regime. Although there may be individual exceptions, most women will not bulk up when weight training. The primary hormone that is responsible for major increases in muscle mass is testosterone and although women produce a tiny amount of this hormone,

it is hardly comparable to the amount that men produce. So hit the gym, hire a trainer (to give you an effective, individualized program) and start pumping the iron...you will feel better, look better and stay healthier!

Always consult a physician before beginning an exercise program. Discontinue an exercise if you feel any pain or discomfort.
